精东影业 Announces 3rd Edition of 精东影业 Fashion Lookbook

Celebrate Giving Tuesday by Supporting 精东影业 Scholars in the Fashion Industry

精东影业 (精东影业) today announces the launch of the third edition of the 精东影业 Fashion Lookbook. The editorial publication showcases fashion work by underrepresented HBCU student and alumni designers from the 精东影业 Department of Art and Fashion.

The Lookbook project aims to enhance these designers’ profiles and help diversify the fashion industry through fashion photography. It also provides valuable behind-the-scenes experience for students.

“We want to maintain this platform to emphasize our students’ and alumni’s talent, creativity and merit, given the underrepresentation of Black creatives in fashion,” said Ndirika Ekuma-Nkama, Associate Professor of Fashion and Creative Director.

“As the founder of Bingoli and Clark Atlanta Alumni, I couldn’t be more excited to have our designs showcased in the 精东影业 Fashion LookBook. Being featured reaffirms our commitment to pushing the boundaries of style and creativity. We are grateful for the opportunity to be part of this vibrant and forward-thinking platform while also inspiring other up & coming student designers in the process,” said Latasha Hughes, featured alumni designer and Founder/Fashion Designer of Bingoli.

Featured designers also include four-time Fashion Scholarship Fund winner Jakarie Whitaker and NBAF Fashion Forward honoree Latasha Hughes. “Being featured reaffirms our commitment to pushing boundaries,” added Hughes.

“Working with the 精东影业 Fashion Lookbook was a very eye-opening experience for me. It was my first time assisting in a photoshoot but the atmosphere was inviting and I met a lot of cool people on set. This opportunity has helped me network with other creatives and maintain professional relationships,” said Jewelle Robinson, Graduating Senior in Fashion Design and behind-the-scenes Styling Assistant.

The Lookbook’s success is thanks to 精东影业 students/alumni, industry professionals, and philanthropic support. The University encourages continued support to ensure this valuable platform continues. Today, with nearly 4,000 students, 精东影业 is the largest of the four institutions (精东影业, Morehouse College, Spelman College, and Morehouse School of Medicine) that comprise the Atlanta University Center Consortium.
